Burnout Prevention and Executive function skill support

for busy Working Mothers

Hi, I’m dr. Liz

I am a seasoned psychologist and adult educator specializing in burnout prevention and executive function skill coaching, training, and consulting for busy working parents.

I provide actionable frameworks that transform overwhelm into achievement—whether you're balancing career and family responsibilities or establishing independent adult success.

I have spent the last two decades helping individuals, families, and systems create action plans for positive change. Let me take that knowledge and help you create your own plan for change.

With those smile lines comes years of real world experience of what really helps when it comes to preventing burnout and building executive function skills.

You deserve to thrive, not just survive

  • Life doesn't come with an instruction manual (wouldn’t that be nice?), especially when executive function challenges are part of your daily life. It’s easier than ever to find yourself at the cusp of burnout as a working professional and mother. Two full time jobs generally is a bit much (understatement of the year), yet we take this on as working mothers in demanding professions.

  • Executive function skill problems can show up at work and in your daily life and make you feel like you’re drowning, despite working harder than ever. Sometimes shoring up your systems for daily life at work and home can help you feel more confident in how to approach your day.

  • Although executive function troubles do show up in ADHD, the good news about executive function skill work is that it can help you regardless of whether you have a diagnosis. If you’re simply overwhelmed by life’s demands, you’re in the right place. No labels necessary.

  • You have all the intelligence and creativity you need to be amazing at your career, but somehow you’re getting bogged down in the day to day. Let’s create structures together to make the basics easier so you can focus on what you really dream about doing. And prevent burnout from creeping in.

How can I help?

I truly believe that everyone I work with has the strengths inside them to thrive…we just might have to do a bit of work to uncover them and find ways to make them take center stage.

So how do we go about making those positive changes?

I offer:

  • Evidence-based strategies tailored to your unique needs. This includes strategies for not only building your executive function skills, but also shifting your mindset and building your confidence.

  • Community-building online offerings to get the hard work done together. You don’t need to do this alone.

  • Flexible online training programs with individual and group coaching that work with your schedule, not against it

  • Professional consulting and workshop services for employers who want to better support you

What are Executive Function Skills?

I’m glad you asked!

There are some different definitions out there, but when I talk about executive function skills that we can really work on, I love to use the model from Dawson and Guare, the masterminds behind the Smart But Scattered series. This set of skills is essentially the “CEO” of your brain- it allows you to reach your goals on a daily basis. Everyone has their own set of strengths and areas for growth, regardless of whether or not you have ADHD or some other clinically diagnosed reason for having executive function skill challenges. No labels necessary to access the positive impact that improving these skills can have on your life.

  • Response Inhibition: Being able to think before you act

  • Working Memory: Being able to hold onto information in order to perform tasks- like your kitchen counter or workspace in your brain

  • Emotional Control: Being able to manage your emotions so that you can get things done, like meeting goals

  • Flexibility: Being able to change your plans or approach when unexpected things occur, such as when facing mistakes or obstacles

  • Sustained Attention: Being able to really hone in and focus on a task, even if it’s boring, you’re tired, or you’re distracted.

  • Task Initiation: Being able to start tasks without too much difficulty- essentially the opposite of procrastination

  • Planning/Prioritizing: Being able to come up with a plan of how to complete a task and deciding what parts are important or not important

  • Goal-Directed Persistence: Being able to identify a goal and keep working towards it until you reach it without being too distracted

  • Metacognition: Being able to be a fly on the wall in a situation and observe yourself, including self-monitoring and self-evaluation.

Through our work together, you will learn more about which are your skill areas to grow in as well as how to leverage your areas of strength. We’ll create actionable steps for you to take to feel more confident and secure.

Let’s be clear here…It’s not just about skill building.

Our work together will also focus on shifting mindsets toward believing in the growth you are capable of.

And creating the kind of strong confidence that you need to thrive as both a mother and professional. Kiss our bully “imposter syndrome” goodbye…he’s not invited to the party anymore.

Preventing burnout takes a comprehensive approach to paying more attention to and honoring what you truly need.

Drawing from my experience in both psychology and education, I offer strategies that really work in real-world settings—from corporate offices to kitchen tables.
