Executive functioning is like your brain’s “management system.” It includes the skills you use to plan, organize, start and finish tasks, manage time, remember details, and regulate emotions. Strong executive function skills help you juggle responsibilities at work and home, while challenges in this area can make daily life feel overwhelming or disorganized.
-
Empowered Focus helps busy working moms and professionals strengthen their executive function skills - things like planning, organization, time management, and stress tolerance. Dr. Liz is a dual-licensed psychologist and nationally certified school psychologist with nearly 20 years of experience. She holds a PhD in Educational (School) Psychology from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Over her career, she’s worked in settings such as schools, universities, private agencies, and state-level organizations. She currently runs a thriving mental health practice in Wisconsin where she works with teens, young adults, and parents with a special focus on ADHD.
She founded Empowered Focus because many of her clients’ mothers were seeking support with executive function skills, burnout, and overwhelm - often without a formal label or diagnosis. Dr. Liz’s approach blends evidence-based psychology, practical strategy, and empathy to help busy working women build routines and systems that actually stick.
Outside of her professional work, she is also a working mom and wife, and she draws on her own life experience navigating stress, demands, and the desire for meaningful balance. You can learn more about Dr. Liz on the About page.

Yes- coaching is different from mental health therapy.
Coaching focuses on growth, goals, and improving performance in specific areas of life. It is very present focused and encourages you to set goals for positive change and build skills to help you reach those goals.
Therapy can also do some of these things depending on the style and therapeutic modality of your therapist. In general, therapy also addresses mental health issues, emotional healing, and past traumas.
Coaches help clients move forward from their current situation. Therapists of also do this, but also help clients understand and resolve past issues affecting their present situation.
Although Dr. Liz is a licensed psychologist, she is not providing mental health therapy in her work at Empowered Focus, LLC. Please seek the help of a licensed mental health professional in your area if you are in need of mental health therapy.
